While your specific dates will be shared in advance, most plans follow a two-week transition timeline from plan setup to go-live. Below is a high-level view of what to expect.
Week 1: Plan Setup & Blackout Begins
- You register and onboard your plan in the Vestwell portal
- The blackout period begins, temporarily restricting certain activities
- Once setup is complete, you gain access to your employer portal
At this point, your work is largely done – Vestwell takes it from here.
Week 2: Plan Transfer & Go-Live
- Plan assets and data are securely transferred to Vestwell (assets remain invested throughout the process)
- Vestwell reconciles and loads all plan information
- The blackout period ends
- Employees receive invitations to register their Vestwell accounts
Transition Complete
Once employee access is restored:
- Your plan is fully live on Vestwell
- Normal plan operations resume
- You and your employees can begin using Vestwell’s enhanced tools and features
