Step 1: Confirm Your Account Details
You’ll:
- Set your username and password
- Review and confirm pre-populated company details, such as:
- Legal business name
- EIN
- Company address
- Plan contact information
Make updates as needed to ensure accuracy.
Step 2: Accept Agreements
You’ll accept the required agreements that allow Vestwell to:
- Administer your plan on the Vestwell platform
- Update your plan’s 3(38) investment fiduciary
- Configure goal-based investing options
A 3(38) investment fiduciary is the investment manager responsible for selecting, monitoring, and managing your plan’s investment lineup.
Step 3: Set Plan Feature Preferences
You’ll select your goal-based investing settings for employees, a personalized investment strategy based on retirement income goals.
Options include:
- Making goal-based investing the default strategy
- Offering it as an optional choice employees can select
Step 4: Validate & Set Up Payroll
You’ll:
- Confirm employee pay groups and schedules
- Verify payroll contacts
- Confirm or update your company bank account
- Reconnect payroll integrations if applicable

Once plan setup is complete, you’ll gain access to your Vestwell employer portal, where you can manage your plan, monitor participation, and access reports.
