To start the registration process, go to:

Note: For the best experience, we recommend using Google Chrome on a laptop or desktop when registering. Please note that we only support the current and previous major versions of browsers. You may use older versions of browsers to access the platform, but the experience may be affected.

Once you are eligible, Vestwell will send an email invite to the work email address provided by your employer. The email is titled "Register for Your Retirement Plan!”. Please note that the email is not required to register for your account.

1. Begin Registration - To start the registration process, go to

You can also use the following methods to start the registration process:

  • Go to the login page and select the Start Here link at the bottom of the screen.
  • Open the "Register for Your Retirement Plan!” email and click the Register Now button at the bottom. 

2. Verify Your Identity - The registration process starts by searching for your retirement account. You find your retirement account by entering your social security number, date of birth, and last name.

If the information provided doesn’t match an unregistered account, you will receive an error message saying, “We do not recognize the information provided. If you think this is an error, please reach out to your employer to get this corrected.” 

If the information provided has already been used for a registered account, you will get an error message indicating, “The provided information has already been used to register. Login to access your account.”

3. Company and Address Verification -
You will then be asked to verify which company is sponsoring the retirement plan you are registering for.

Next, verify the address you have lived at in the past or currently live at from a list of options.

Important note:

If a company name or address is incorrectly selected three times, your registration will lock after the third attempt, and you will need to reach out to to proceed.

4. Contact Information - After verifying your identity, you'll be asked to provide your contact information, including your name, personal email, and phone number. 

5. Account Setup - Your login email should be pre-populated. 

If you would like to set a different login email address, select the Edit button on the top right of the Login email field to update the email address. 

Selecting this will allow you to edit your email address. Once you have changed the email address, select Continue to create a password. 

A password is required to log in to your retirement account. Be sure to select a secure password that is difficult for others to guess but easy for you to remember. You will be asked to enter the password twice to avoid typos. Select Create Account to continue.

6. Setup Two-Factor Authentication
- After you enter your password, you will be prompted to set up 2-Factor Authentication to add an additional layer of security to your account. You can choose between app-based or text-based authentication.

Authentication App:

  1. Install one of the authentication apps, Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator, on your mobile device.
  2. On the preferred method window, select Authentication App.
  3. Open your Authentication app, select the plus button (+), and select scan QR code on your screen.
  4. Scan the QR code on your screen and hit Continue. Your authentication app will register your Vestwell account.
  5. Enter the 6-digit code in your app and select Enable. You're all set!

Text Message: 

  1. On the preferred method window, select Text Message.
  2. Enter your mobile phone number and hit Continue.
  3. Enter the 6-digit code sent to you by text message and hit Enable. You can select Resend code if you do not receive the 6-digit code. That's all!

Please note: You can set up your Two-Factor Authentication directly on the platform. 

7. Agree to Terms and Conditions – The final step is to agree to the platform’s terms and conditions. Once agreed to, you will be redirected to your new retirement account.



I Already Have an Account With Vestwell. How Can I Connect My Existing Account to My New Saver Account?

Suppose you already have a Vestwell Account setup from your previous employer, and your current employer uses Vestwell as their 401(k) provider. In that case, you can connect your new employer information to your existing Vestwell account. 

On the Account Setup step, you will see a message that says your email is already associated with an existing account. Enter your password for the current account and select Connect accounts. By doing this, you can access both accounts through a single login. 

If you do not remember what your password was previously set to, you can always use the "Forgot Your Password" option. Doing so will send a password reset link to your login email address. 

After completing the "Sign In" page, you will be returned to the Contact Information page. Complete the rest of the registration process from here, following the steps above. 

What Should I Do if I Need Help Finding My Registration Email?

Vestwell no longer requires you to have the registration email to register for your account. So, even if you do not have that email, you can navigate to to register for your account. If you need assistance, please reach out to Vestwell directly at
