What’s changed with the introduction of the unified login experience for Gradifi?

The Unified Login Experience provides all  Gradifi users with a single, secure login for Gradifi and any connected Vestwell accounts. This guide explains how to log in, register, use multi-factor authentication (MFA), address account issues, and what’s changed.

Accessing the Unified Login Page

  • Go to gradifi.vestwell.com to access your Gradifi account.
  • Attempts to log in via https://www.gradifi.com/ or old bookmarks links will redirect you automatically to gradifi.vestwell.com.
  • Logins from single sign-on (SSO) providers or email invitations will continue to operate the way they always have as no change has been made to this flow.
  • Options for “Forgot Password?” are available on the login page.

Who Will See the new Account Selection Page?

Depending on your roles and accounts, the login experience differs:

  • You will be taken directly to your Gradifi dashboard:
    • If you have only a single Gradifi account and no other Vestwell/Gradifi roles.
  • You will see the account selection page:
    • If you have multiple roles (for example a Gradifi and any Vestwell product account).
  • To switch roles or accounts after logging in, use the “Switch Account” feature.

Creating a New Account

  • Click “Create Account” in the invitation email sent by your employer.
  • Fill in the registration form and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • If your email is already used by another Vestwell service (like 401k, 529), you may be prompted to enter your password to connect your accounts.
  • The system will prevent duplicate accounts and clearly explain if an email is already in use.

Single Sign-On (SSO) Users

  • First-time SSO users who “Create Account” follow the standard onboarding flow.
  • Clicking “Log In” via SSO with multiple roles takes you to the account selection page.
  • If you have only one Gradifi account, you are taken straight to your dashboard.

Resetting Your Password

  • Click “Forgot Password?” on gradifi.vestwell.com.
  • Enter your registered email address.
  • You’ll receive a password reset email from Gradifi. Check spam or junk folders if you don’t see it.
  • Follow the link to create a new password.

Password Criteria

Passwords must meet Vestwell’s security requirements:

  • At least 10 characters long
  • At least 1 number
  • At least 1 uppercase letter
  • At least 1 lowercase letter
  • At least 1 special character
  • No common/simple English words
  • No repetitive characters or context-specific words (like your username or email)

Previous Gradifi password rules and security questions are no longer valid for resets.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Setup

Multi-factor authentication is required for all users. Security questions and email-based MFA are not supported.

  • On your first login (or after migration), you’ll be prompted to set up both:
    • App-based authentication (like Google Authenticator)
    • Phone-based authentication (text or voice)
  • If no phone number is on file, you must add one during this step.
  • MFA is required for login, password reset, and important account changes.
  • Follow on-screen setup instructions for code verification.

Migration and First Login After Migration

  • All account data, including emails, passwords, MFA, and account associations, are securely transferred to the new system.
  • On your first login after migration, you may be asked to set up MFA or reset your password if your original settings are incompatible.
  • Your access to Gradifi and connected Vestwell accounts will remain.
  • If you have problems accessing or linking accounts, support can help.

Logout and Session Timeout

  • Logging out always returns you to the main login page (not the account selector).
  • Sessions expire after 15 minutes of inactivity; you’ll be prompted to log in again.

Branding & Security

  • The login page, password reset, and notification emails are Gradifi-branded for clarity and safety.
  • Official Gradifi-branded emails about login, password resets, and MFA are safe.

What’s Changed? (For Returning Users)

  • New Gradifi-branded login and password reset pages at gradifi.vestwell.com.
  • Password resets require stricter, Vestwell-standard password criteria.
  • MFA setup is also stricter, no longer supporting security questions.
  • All dashboards unified under one login, access all your roles/accounts from one place.
  • Streamlined access for users with multiple Gradifi/Vestwell roles.

Troubleshooting & Common Login Issues

  • Invalid or expired invitation link: You’ll be sent to the new login page. Request a new invitation from your administrator if needed.
  • Account locked after multiple bad login attempts: Contact Gradifi Support.
  • Problems resetting your password or finding your account: Contact support for help.
  • Email already used on another Vestwell product: Instructions will appear during registration with your next steps.
