This article outlines the key differences in how payroll integrations function on Vestwell compared to Accrue, so you know what to expect after your transition.
If you are currently reconnecting your payroll provider, see: Reconnecting Your Payroll Integration During the Accrue Migration for step-by-step instructions.
Loan Deduction Setup
Loan repayment deduction codes must be set up manually in your payroll system as these are not automatically set up and maintained via the integration. Your payroll provider can provide instructions on how to set up and maintain deductions directly in your payroll system. Any plan-level employer contacts who are registered for the Vestwell platform will receive email notifications with key loan updates, new loan notifications, missing payment notifications, and loan payoff notifications. You can view your employee’s loan amortization schedule in the Vestwell Employer portal at any time under the “Employees” page. For more information on loans, please visit our article, “Frequently Asked Questions: Loans.”
Dollar Deferrals
Participants must select their deferrals as a percentage. Dollar-based deferrals cannot be processed via the integration at Vestwell. Any existing dollar deferrals will be converted to a similar percentage. For example, if an employee’s gross income is $1,500 for a given pay period and they intend to contribute $150, they should elect a 10% pre-tax deferral rate. Percentage-based deferral elections must be rounded to the nearest whole number as fractional percentage rates cannot be selected. Employees can easily adjust their deferral rates anytime directly in their saver portal using the instructions outlined in our article, “How to Select or Change Your Deferral Amounts.”
Solo 401(k)
If you have a Solo 401(k), where the only participants are the owner(s) their spouse, a payroll integration will not be supported. Please visit the support articles at the bottom of this page for more information on how to submit your contributions at your preferred cadence directly on your Vestwell online portal.
